Biography

My name is Sam Kennington and I am a candidate for Person County Commissioner.  My wife, Cathy, is a retired public school Speech therapist.  We live in the Hester’s Store Community on the farm that belonged to my grandparents.  We have three adult children and six grandchildren. 

I am:

•  A graduate of Roxboro High School; East Carolina University, BSBA; North Carolina A & T State University, MS; Appalachian State University, Ed.S.

·        A former public school classroom teacher, 7 years;  assistant principal, 2 years;  high school principal, 15 years; central office administrator, 8 years and principal of Roxboro Community School, 2 years.

·       Former director of the Roxboro Uptown Development Corporation; former president of the Person County United Way board; present member of the Person County Planning Board; former chairman of the Person County Planning Board and the Person County Board of Elections.
